Fact Fluency, There are so many fun and innovative ways to teach multiplication other than the traditional methods. By incorporating multiplication activities and multiplication games, you can take your mathematics lesson to the next level!

FLASHCARD AT THE DOOR

This can be a great start to a lesson. Prepare flashcards with multiplication sums, and before each child enters the classroom, show a flashcard and let the child answer. Every correct answer earns a pass, and if the answer is incorrect, the child can step aside until he figures out the correct answer.

Fact Fluency NUMBER NAME TAGS

You can create a name tag for each student and write a multiplication fact such as 5 x 3 on the name tag. The student will be required to wear that name tag for a whole day, and if someone wants to speak to that student, they must call him by the answer to their multiplication fact.

Fact Fluency DRAW WALDORF MULTIPLICATION FLOWER

This is a creative way to multiplication tables with Fact Fluency. Start by drawing a circle (center of the flower) and write a number from 1-9 inside. Next, draw 12 petals around the circle and write the number 1-12 on each petal. Finally, draw 12 more petals and write the product of the number written on the center and the number adjacent to the last petal.

For example, if the number at the center is 4 and the number adjacent to the last petal is 7, then the student will write 28 on that petal.

Fact Fluency QUICK MENTAL MATHS

You can put a twist on an old favorite game of rock, paper, scissors for your mathematics lesson. Split students into groups of two and ask them to put up fingers instead of rock, etc. Whoever calls out the product of the fingers first wins. You can also divide students into two groups of guessers and shooters. That way, you can engage the whole classroom in this fun multiplication game.

Fact Fluency TEAM TAG

This multiplication activity is sure to make your lesson fun. Prepare flashcards with multiplication sums and place them on a desk. Divide the students into two teams, making them stand in single file lines facing the desk. When play starts, each student will run to the desk, pick up a flashcard and show it to his team.

He then has to give the correct answer to the writing sum. If his answer is correct, he will place the flashcard in a discard file, run back to his line, and tag the next student. If he is unable to guess the correct answer, he will place that card at the bottom of the flashcard pile and pick another one from the top and try again.

USE EXCITING THEMES FOR WORKSHEETS Fact Fluency

Homework sheets and practice papers can sometimes appear dull and repetitive to students. You can liven it up with colorful and character themes to make it more interesting for students. You can also use puzzles, graphs, and other multiplication games to keep students engaged.
